Sperber Road Right of Way Tree Trimming

SPERBER ROAD TREE, LIMB AND SCRUB REMOVAL NOTICE

TO: Landowners Adjacent to the Sperber Road Right-of-way;

We will be clearing the Town’s Right-of-Way, (ROW) along Sperber Road this March. In recent years we have cleared the ROWs on Bluff View Road, Sand Lane Road and Hillcrest Roads. We hope to continue along other roads as our budget allows. You can check the ROW clearing on those roads listed above for examples of this kind of work.

For purposes of mowing, snowplowing and improving safe travel we will be removing the trees, brush and scrubs along the Town ditches within the Sperber Road ROW;

WI Statute 66.107(1) authorizes Towns to maintain the ROW by removing, cutting or trimming trees and scrubs from the ROW.

WI Statute 86.03(2) states that the trees and scrubs belong to the owner of the land over which the road is laid.

The Town has contracted with “Wedam Enterprises, LLC” to cut and remove trees, limbs and scrubs from our ROW. The trees and limbs belong to the adjacent landowner and will be moved to the edge of their property, just beyond the road ROW. Our contractor will also cut and grind the brush and scrubs. If a landowner wants their brush and scrubs after they’re cut, you need to contact me no later than Saturday, March 21, 2026 to make arrangements.

The Town Road ROW on Sperber Road is 4 rods or 66 feet wide. That is 33 feet from each side of the centerline. The roadbed, including the shoulder varies from 22-24 feet wide. That leaves approximately 20 feet of ditch-line from the edge of each side of the roadbed as part of the Town’s ROW. That 20 feet of ditch-line on each side of the road is the area we will be clearing.
