Request for Bids for Bluffview Rd Relocation

PUBLIC NOTICE; REQUEST FOR BIDS

Bluffview Road Relocation Bid Specifications

TOWN OF GARFIELD, JACKSON COUNTY, WI

Project limits:

Bluffview Road (CTH B to CTH G approximately 300’ in middle of segment as field marked)

Road Relocation Project  

1. This is a lump sum bid item to include all labor, required permits and erosion control measures, equipment to sign the work zone, relocate the road subgrade, construct a new crushed aggregate base course on the relocated section and add topsoil and reseed ditches. Additional sand, gravel or topsoil will be purchased directly by the Town. The contractor will coordinate delivery of materials and provide the Town with all vendor load slips.
2. The relocation will move the existing road 6’ maximum horizontally within the marked area.  Relocation shall be performed by salvaging topsoil from existing road slopes and ditches and widening the road with native sand excavated from constructing ditches in the relocation area or adjacent to the relocation area.  An underground telephone line runs in the ditch, which shall be located prior to starting work.  If the location of the phone line makes it cost prohibitive to use excavated sand from the ditch, there is a sand fill site located less than 6 miles from the relocation where the contractor may be able to remove fill and haul it to use for the relocation. Final road slopes shall not be steeper than 4:1 with new ditching at least 2’ below the finished gravel road edge. New crushed aggregate base course shall be 12” minimum thickness with a minimum of the top 4” being ¾” maximum aggregate size (the lower 8” of new base course may be 1 ¼” at the contractor’s discretion).  New base course shall be tied into the existing road base course so there are no seams of sand, dirt, topsoil, etc. between the new and existing base course. Topsoil shall be added and ditch areas reseeded.    
3. All bids shall state the anticipated start and completion dates.
4. Bid envelopes shall be labeled “Bluff View Road Relocation” and delivered to the following address by 6:00 PM, Wednesday, August 30, 2023:

The Town of Garfield reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive any technicalities in any bid, and to select the bid deemed to the Board to be in the best interest of the Town. Bids will be discussed at the Towns September 2023 Regular Monthly Meeting.
